devghatDevghat Dham is located on holy junction of Trishuli and Kaligandaki River 6 kilometer north of Narayangarh and carries huge historical, religious, traditional and natural values. This place is well known for its peaceful and spiritually bounded environment. According to Hindu mythology the great god Lord Shiva used to live in this place with his fellow companions. Galeshwor Ashram, Chakreshwor Shila, Sita Gufa (cave), Basista Gufa, Harihar Mandir (temple), Mahesh-Sanyas Ashram, Ram Mandir, Kathastup and many other sites carrying very spiritual and religious importance adds up the light to Devghat. Not only Chitwan Devghat Dham covers a total area of about 5454 hectare and extends itself in other two districts: Tanahun and Nawalparasi. According to page 99 of chapter 44 in Skanda Purana (Hindu epic) Devghat Dham is the most fruitful and spiritually blessed amongst only three on earth. The most important thing to be kept in mind today to flourish tourism, growing economy, extending settlement, and development of Dham itself is transportation. Provided the proper establishment and management of good transport system, this place can prove itself as the most income generating tourism spot in Chitwan.
